…if you’re bored as HECK!!!
Day 23874390 of quarantine and I have enough coffee, sleep, food and internet to get so much accomplished. But like what have I done? Color. Finish a few Netflix series. Watch movies with my roommates.
Side note- I’ve never been so thankful for roommates. I would probably start walking back to Washington if I didn’t. Maybe wrangle a mustang along the way and do a cross-country ride.
OOOHHH what a brilliant idea! If only I had an endurance horse fit enough for a cross-country trip. I remember reading a feature article years back about a woman who rode her Arabian from California to Maine. Maybe I could do Washington to Florida?
I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed being social and talking until I was both out of bartending and stuck in my own house except to go to Kroger. This whole thing wouldn’t be so bad if I was on like some acreage and had horses to exercise every day. BUUUUUUUUUT I’m 24 and very much in the city, very much broke and horseless.
I’m also giving up my dream of being a trophy wife/housewife (Dad, if you’re reading this, breathe. I’m kidding.) After a prolonged period of being housebound, I’ve started cooking, cleaning and doing yardwork and weeding on my own free will. If you know me at all, you know I’m not normally one to cook or tackle the garden. On my way home from my last Costco run, I stopped by Lowe’s because I needed clippers to prune my roses. Well, walking back to the garden department, I passed a huge selection of bulbs. It’s finally, consistently, above freezing in Kentucky so, now is the time to plant! I picked up some Lilies, because my mom always has them in her garden, and I love their smell! I got both pink ones and black ones. I was shocked they had a dark one, but I love dark flowers because they will look so pretty next to white or red (Louisville Cards’ colors!) Kind of unintentional but after giving my soul to school for 3.5 years I adopted those colors as my favorites.
Also, do you realize how much of a science gardening is? You can’t just plop a bulb or a group of seeds in a hole, fill it up, and put water on it. Certain flowers need different amounts of sunshine, a different kind of soil, and different spacing away from each other. Considering this is Kentucky and our soil is more clay than dirt, I have my work cut out for me. Shoveling a lot of clay is very heavy so I sit here contemplating if 6:30 is too early to go to bed.
Stay tuned to see if they live. Also follow me on Twitter, #adultingwithmadi will give you a chuckle or two I’m sure.
